The main goal was to design a medical dictation solution that improves speech recognition accuracy for complex clinical terminology, while streamlining doctors’ workflows and reducing the need for manual corrections.

Problem

Speech recognition systems struggled to accurately capture complex medical terminology, leading to frequent transcription errors and increased manual corrections.

 

This disrupted doctors’ workflows, reduced efficiency, and impacted confidence in using the tool.

A custom vocabulary feature was introduced, allowing doctors to save and reuse frequently used medical terms, improving speech recognition accuracy.

 

  • Punctuation support – allows doctors to include punctuation naturally during dictation

  • Real-time transcript output – displays transcribed text instantly for quick review and correction

  • Speech adaptation – learns and adapts to individual users’ voice patterns and terminology to improve accuracy

 

Together, these features reduced manual corrections and created a more efficient and seamless dictation workflow.

The final solution brings together a streamlined medical dictation experience designed to improve accuracy, speed, and usability for doctors.

 

The interface supports natural speech input with real-time transcript output, punctuation control, and adaptive learning for medical terminology. Combined with a personalised vocabulary feature, the system reduces transcription errors and minimises manual corrections, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care and less on documentation.
